Nothing truly good comes from anywhere other than the Father of lights. If we believe that some good things come to us by coincidence, from other sources or because we earned them we will be less grateful to God. Satan does not want us to be as grateful to God as He deserves. Ephesians 5:20: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Satan would have us believe that God is not all that good, not all that powerful and not sovereign. He would also have us believe that we deserve good things. What we deserve is the Lake of Fire. All have sinned and the wages of sin is death (Romans 3:23 and 6:23). Anything that keeps us out of the Lake of Fire for one minute or one day is a good thing. Receiving Jesus keeps us out of the Lake of Fire FOREVER! Psalms 103:10: He hath not (past tense) dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. We should be grateful to God that we are not in the Lake of Fire already! And how grateful should Christians be to Him that they are never going there? |
